A PV point on a Fronius solar inverter is a basic backup power feature that provides electricity during a grid outage — even without a battery.
Here’s how it works:
🔌 What is the PV Point?
• It’s a dedicated outlet (power socket) connected directly to the inverter.
• During a grid failure, the inverter automatically switches to supply power to that socket, as long as the sun is shining and the PV system is generating power.
⚙️ How it Works:
1. Normal Operation (Grid On):
o The PV system generates power for the home.
o Excess power goes to the grid or charges a battery (if installed).
2. Grid Failure (No Battery Installed):
o Most inverters shut down for safety — but not Fronius GEN24.
o The PV Point kicks in and provides up to 3kW of power directly to the socket, as long as the sun is shining.
o This is an isolated circuit — it won’t power your whole house, only what’s plugged into the PV Point outlet.
⚠️ Key Points to Remember:
• You need sunlight for the PV Point to work (no sun = no power).
• It won’t power your whole house — only a small outlet.
• Great for charging phones, running a small fridge, router, kettle, etc.
